Chattan House welcomes all holiday
makers, artists & art lovers' to the Artists' town of Kirkcudbright.
Join us for a wonderful view across the town and bay, which is able to take you back in time.
Walkers can use several footpaths straight from the house. Barhill wood is directly behind Chattan House, which has easy waymarked walks.
There are many easy walks in the vacinity
and more challenging ones in the nearby Galloway Hills.

This view shows the windows of both guest rooms at the front of the house, which look on to an elevated balcony with views over the town and bay.
Seats are available to enjoy the view from this balcony.
The patio at the rear of the house is available to all residents.
The studio there can be used by resident artists for relaxation or to paint with the woodland garden as a backdrop.

There are many unspoilt beaches to explore such as Carrick,
Brighouse Bay, Dhoon Bay, Sand Green, and
Balcary Bay, another Smugglers' haunt, has a spectacular cliff top walk with wonderful views towards Hestan Island
and the Cumbrian hills across the Solway Firth.
Gatehouse of Fleet has a kilt making centre, woodland walks and a visitor centre made from an old Mill on the Fleet.
Castle Douglas is a food town and has many interesting small shops with excellent butchers.
Kirkcudbright has a museum and many art galleries and craft shops. The Tolbooth is a museum celebrating the Artists town.
John Paul Jones was imprisoned here at one point in his life. He went on to be considered the father of the American Navy.
